During the postdoctoral phase, it is essential to strategically shape your research career in order to succeed in the highly competitive academic landscape. Alongside qualifications such as a habilitation (or equivalent) and a strong publication record, third-party funding plays a central role – whether as a prerequisite for professorships or for other permanent positions in research and academia.
This workshop supports participants in assessing their current career stage and identifying suitable funding opportunities. The aim is to use third-party funding strategically to strengthen your research profile and autonomy.
• Overview of national and European funding landscapes
• Major funding bodies and relevant programs
• Requirements and objectives of common funding schemes
• Self-assessment: Where do I currently stand in terms of funding readiness?
• Developing a funding track record tailored to your career path
• Identifying suitable programs for current and future research projects
The workshop combines expert input, peer exchange, and individual reflection. Participants analyze their current position, explore relevant funding opportunities, and develop concrete steps toward building a personal funding strategy.

This workshop is part of this year's “Skills’n’Thrills” Competence Days for postdoctoral researchers, junior professors, and tenure-track professors. Subject to availability, postdocs from other research institutions in Leipzig as well as doctoral researchers, professors, and science managers from Leipzig University are also welcome to participate.
